Application time for Coimbra Group Scholarship Programme for Young African Researchers is now open

This is a good opportunity for teachers and researchers at the University of Turku to adverstise to your African partners!
Coimbra Group Universities have been providing, since 2008, young researchers from universities in Sub-Saharan Africa with the opportunity to spend a short period (generally 1 to 3 months) at a Coimbra Group University to carry out part of their research there.

The online application is now open until  5 April 2024 at midnight (Brussels time) on the Coimbra Group website. https://www.coimbra-group.eu/scholarships/sub-saharan-africa/

The visit must take place during the autumn semester 2024.

The applicant should be a researcher at a higher education institution, research center, international institution or organisation, and have a particular interest in sustainable development and developing research and innovation cooperation between their home organisation and the University of Turku.

The applicant will need an invitation letter from professor/researcher at the University of Turku, who is willing to host the applicant. A good invitation letter concretely describes the content and benefit of the visit to the University of Turku. The receiving unit assists in finding accommodation.

A monthly scholarship is 1700 € + reimbursement of travel costs up to 1700 €. Please note that the scholarship should be regarded as additional funding, meant for covering additional costs during the visit at the University of Turku (travel, travel insurance, visa and accommodation). Receiving unit’s own funding is not used for the scholarship.

Priority is given to applicants from the University of Turku’s bilateral partner universities and applicants whose stay is linked to the following networks: Finland-Africa Platform for Innovation (SDG 9)SAFINET (Southern African and Finnish Higher Education Institutions’ Network for Health and Well-Being)GINTL (Global Innovation Network for Teaching and Learning)EDUCase Platform or the Southern African-Nordic Centre SANORD.

Please note that research visits are not possible in July.
